About Quizy
Quizy is a trivia game for iPhone that you play out loud. An AI quiz host reads each question, listens to the spoken answers and keeps score, so nobody has to read the questions, type the answers or pass the phone.
Who makes it
Quizy is made by VOCO AS in Asker, Norway. I'm Markus, and I build it: the game, the host and this site. The articles here are written in my voice, which is why they say "I."
Quizy: AI Quiz Host has been on the App Store since 24 October 2026. It needs an iPhone with iOS 17 or later and an internet connection.
Which Quizy this is
Other apps on the App Store use the name Quizy. This one is at quizhost.ai, App Store id 6801865728, made by VOCO AS; its App Store page lists the seller as Markus Jensen and the copyright as VOCO AS. It hosts the game out loud. It is not a quiz creator, and nobody taps an answer on a screen.
How the host works
The host reads every question out loud, listens for the answer of whoever's turn it is, and keeps the score by name. Players answer in a fixed order, and the host says each name, so it never has to guess who spoke.
The questions and answers are fixed and checked. In Improv, which comes with Premium, an AI model writes the host's reactions to the answer you actually gave. It writes words only: never the facts, the verdict or the score.
Where the questions come from
Most of the trivia packs are adapted from OpenTriviaQA and the Open Trivia Database, shared under CC BY-SA 4.0, and each question is checked and rewritten to be read aloud before it reaches the game. The numbers in Closest Guess and the lists in Streak come from Wikidata and public reference works, and the sounds in Soundcheck are public domain or CC0 recordings from Wikimedia Commons.
What happens to your voice
While it is your turn, the microphone audio goes to the Quizy server and on to a speech-recognition provider to hear your answer. The Quizy server does not keep the audio and never writes it to disk. The text of what was heard is kept, with timings about the turn, because that is how wrong verdicts get found and fixed.
Your App Store country decides which of the two servers holds your data: the United States for accounts in the US, Canada and Mexico, and Helsinki, Finland, for everyone else. The privacy policy has the rest, in plain words.
